Learn about how pre-orders work in a SwagUp Shop

Looking to build anticipation about upcoming items? Want to avoid interruptions when items go out of stock? Allow pre-orders in your SwagUp Shop so that customers can continue buying even when you have no product inventory.

To turn on the pre-order functionality, you’ll need to set it up under the Shop Settings. This is the fourth and final step when initially creating your Shop, but you can activate it on a pre-existing shop by clicking “Customize.”

Once you’ve gotten to the customize flow, skip to the final step and select “no” under “stop selling a product once it is out of stock.”

Once you update the shop, the change will take effect immediately. Now you’ll need to be on the lookout for out of stock errors in your orders. They’ll look like this:

You can click the ellipses to review the order details and plan a restock order.

A simpler way to plan your reorder is to use the products subtab of the shop. This will flag all out of stock items and allow you to place a reorder directly from the item details.

Once you have inventory, you’ll be able to retry the order to clear the out of stock error. Select the order(s) that had an out of stock error and click “retry.”
